On 6 July 2024, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa officially inaugurated Tosamaganga as a Regional Referral Hospital, together with modern radiology services.
The hospital was designated as a Voluntary Agency Hospital, reinforcing its role in providing healthcare services through collaboration between faith-based institutions and the government.
The Diocese of Iringa partnered with the Government of Tanzania to operate the hospital as a Council Designated Hospital for Iringa District Council. This partnership improved healthcare accessibility and specialized medical services.
The hospital was officially registered as a non-profit private health facility, strengthening its commitment to providing accessible and patient-centered healthcare.
On 17 February 1970, the hospital was officially inaugurated as a healthcare facility established through collaboration between the Roman Catholic Diocese of Iringa and the Manitese Youth Group from Torino, Italy.
Tosamaganga Hospital was established by the Diocese of Iringa to serve the local community. On 2 October 1968, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, the Father of the Nation, laid the foundation stone for the hospital.
